Remembering R.E.M (1980-2011)

The band during their early days in 1980's
With profound grief I write that the veteran american alternative band R.E.M has called it a day , The news regarding the disbandment appeared on the band's official site on 21st september 2011 and instantly broke many hearts across the world ,The band originally consisting of lead singer michael stipe , peter buck , mike mills and bill berry had a successful career spanning 30 long years , thats right 30 long years The band acted as an inspiration to many modern era bands like Radiohead , Nirvana , pavement etc . The band released 15 studio albums during its time span , however they are most remembered for their studio records Out of time ( 1991 ) and Automatic for the people ( 1992 )
Alas , all good things come to an end eventually , We hope the band continues to inspire many future artists like always , and Michael stipe to be remembered throughout his lifetime for the invaluable contribution to the alternative arena.
Here are few tracks to sulk on :|

Suck it and See

After the huge success of their third album "Humbug" , The highly popular Indie rock band "Arctic monkeys" released their fourth studio album Suck it and see on 6th June 2011 although the single , Don't sit down cause I've moved your chair was released officially on 16th of april , and with the release of video "brick by brick" in the next month It was more than clear that a new album is down the road .
The track listings is as follows

1. She's Thunderstorms
2. Black treacle
3. Brick by brick
4. Hellcat spangled Shalalala
5. Dont sit down 'cause I've moved your chair
6. Library Pictures
7. All My Own Stunts
8. Reckless Seranade
9. Piledriver Waltz
10. Love is a laserquest
11. Suck it and see
12. That's where you are wrong

With just less than two weeks in the release , Suck it and see has made it to the top of the UK charts and has been getting pretty positive reviews as well from the critics over the globe , The band has fared pretty well within the european audience and is loved well by the british crowd , this album might well be the one changing the scenario of the monkeys worldwide , or alas It should be.
The whole album is listenable , but expecting the Humbug effect straightaway may cause you a setback ,
Black treacle , Brick by brick ,the hellcat spangled shalalala are among the better ones.
Well on the closing note , The album's sure going to be treasured by the Indie lovers for awhile,Alex and company doesn't disappoint as always.
another amazing news , RHCP announced their 10th studio album "I'm with you" whose due released date is 26th april 2011 , the track listings has already been given by the band

With Radiohead , Foo fighters already releasing their fantastic studio albums , RHCP on their way and speculations being made that Coldplay might as well come into the party , This year might very well be the toughest/most competitive and amazing year for the alternative rock.

The King Of Limbs

Radiohead released its well awaited 8th studio album after a gap of 4 years on 18th february , a day before its set released . The album contains mere 8 songs
Here are the track listings--
1. Bloom
2.Morning Mr Magpie
3.Little by little
4.Feral
5. Lotus flower
6.Codex
7.Give up the ghost
8.Separator
The shortest album by the band so far  and no B-sides have been talked about  till now which is somewhat disappointing for the die hard fans. Anyway , the album opens with the track "Bloom" which is completely
different music the band has so far produced ( I wonder how come they innovate so beautifully album after album .) the electronic assistance reminds of the Amnesiac period , Thom's falsetto sounds surreal and amazingly beautiful throughout the whole album. About the track "Lotus flower" , The band, already presented it at a live show for the Haiti's cause and the track Morning M'lord/Magpie appeared in the band's collection videos "The most gigantic lying mouth of all time ", however not taking away any credit from the fact that studio versions are much better.
The album in my opinion is totally different than what the most fans expected after the In rainbows , Radiohead never ceases to surprise its fans , though its different, it's as spectacular as their other albums. It's high on genuinely amazing lyrics and experimentation which are treat to the ears ,The album ends with the track "Separator" which in my opinion is one of the best ending track of all of their albums.
Finally , The album is splendid , If you are a fan for a while , you'll surely love it.
For the occasional Radiohead listeners I'll recommend the tracks Separator , Lotus flower.
Feel free to download them ,

Greatest records of last 25 years

So its like,  the list of greatest albums of last 25 years (1986-2011) is out ,however its being chosen by the readers of Q magazine but pretty much reflects the overall preference of the people over the world . Radiohead's Ok computer tops the list but surprisingly Kid A is being rated at no. 18 which has been previously given the top spot in the greatest albums of decade 2000-2010 by the rollingstone magazine. Although Radiohead overall have its 6 albums in the top 250 out of which 4 are in top 25 , Oasis and and Muse have 5 and Coldplay,Blur have 4 each while U2 with 7 albums in top 250 was the maximum. One of my personal favourite nevermind was second behind the ok computer. The whole list seems reasonable with ok computer having brilliant songs like Karma police and Paranoid android it deserved the top spot hands down I love the whole album though and as far as nevermind is concerned with track like smells like a teen's spirit which is like the mother of alt rock genre as I already discussed in my earlier post.Oasis bagging away 3rd and 4th places may be debatable not taking away the fact they are genuinely great albums but when you see an album like Kid A at 18 then it seems weird right ? The best thing about the list is arctic monkeys at the 5th (and one of the youngest band in the whole list as well) however their music is pretty much centered around Indie rock.Ok so I wont take much of your time here are the top 10 , I'm also writing few songs of the album that pretty much sums it up ofcourse you cant do that in case of Ok computer as the whole album is awesome for the others just save the link to download the song..!

1.Ok Computer (Radiohead) -whole abum
2.Nevermind (Nirvana)- Smells like a teen's spirit  Polly Lithium   Lounge act  Come as you are
3.(What's the story) Morning Glory ? (Oasis)- Some might say  Wonderwall  Don't look back in anger, Champagne supernova
4.Definitely Maybe (Oasis) - Cigarettes and alcohol  Live forever  Supersonic
5.Whatever people says I am thats what I'm not (Arctic monkeys ) -The view from the afternoon   I bet you look good on the dance floor When the sun goes down
10.Black holes and revelations (Muse)-Knights of cydonia City of delusion Supermassive black hole Hodoo

The top 10
