GRAMMY WINNERS OVER THE YEARS

THE WHITE STRIPES- The husband wife duo has made some rather good music over the years ,the last three albums winning grammy for the best alt. album consecutively. Their music , basically inspired from the punk blues with excessive use of drums and guitar backed by these 2 men or rather a couple army.

GNARLS AND BARKLEY-Often cited as the odd couple ( not surprisingly though ) doesn't cease to amaze me just over 7 years in the scene have rather made substantial growth with their music , I think its with their blending of alt rock with the hip hop that clicked a good note with the listeners , the hoarse voice of ce lo green sent the debut single crazy top of the charts also at the no. 1 spot of rolllingstone list of songs of the decade , now thats something of a debut ! later the album St. Elsewhere won the best alt. album at the grammys quite deservingly.

PHOENIX- New kid on the block , the french band has taken the world by storm ,though been in the business for a long time but recently came into limelight with the success of their recent album wolfgang amedius which won them grammy for the year 2010 is also maiden award for a france based band in the category since the award introduced in 1991. Versaille based band's lead singer Thomas mars voice has uncanny resemblance to john lennon's. Though there are a few good tracks in the album but 1901 , lisztomania , lasso stands apart.









RADIOHEAD- Do they really need an intro , seriously undoubtedly the most evolving band of the generation if not the best, has won three grammy awards for the albums. Ok computer , Kid A and In rainbows. Each album in so diversed in terms of singing and the instruments used you will be amazed.Kid A appeared as the best album of the decade in the rollingstone list.The likes of musical prodigy Thom yorke , multi instrumentalist jonny greenwood makes radiohead the most promising band of the modern era , I'll recommend the whole discography.







COLDPLAY-Unmistakingly one of the most famous bands of the present generation ,Coldplay strikes the chord with the listeners , the 2 time grammy winners for Parachutes, Rush of blood to the head has a great performer in terms of chris martin whose baritones mixed with soulful music creates a soothing effect.The band has released 5 studio album among which except for 2 3 songs (in each album) the whole album is listenable.Though often criticised of un-evolving music. the band knows what sells in the market.
